Navigating sustainable alternatives or recycled products to implement within infrastructure works can be daunting, especially when ensuring they perform the function as well as virgin materials or tried and tested products.
One promising option is incorporating recycled plastics into concrete footpath and kerb works. This approach can help meet industry and municipal sustainability targets without creating additional office work, and has been proven easier to work with on site. By replacing a portion of the aggregate in the concrete mix with reconstituted plastic, we not only reduce the use of virgin materials but also divert hard-to-recycle plastics from landfill.
The inclusion of polymer aggregate produces a lighter, more manageable product while maintaining performance.
