Twenty years ago, solar streetlighting was a promising yet unreliable technology with limited commercial use. Today, solar lighting has evolved into a viable, reliable solution, with Leadsun at the forefront, pioneering the next generation of SMART solar streetlighting.

This presentation will explore the development of solar lighting technology, from early experimentation to today’s compact, intelligent All-In-One solar systems. We will highlight how Leadsun has integrated advanced monocrystalline solar panels, LiFePO4 battery chemistry, dual battery charging systems, adaptive PIR motion sensing, and wireless EDGE control to create solar lighting solutions with unmatched performance and autonomy. Our patented technology extends battery life to nearly 15 years, enabling adaptive lighting that responds to pedestrian and vehicular activity for smarter energy use. EDGE connectivity allows global control and visibility over lighting infrastructure, ushering in a new era of intelligent asset management.

Leadsun has reshaped the perception of solar lighting, both in Australia and internationally. Over the past five years, nearly 10,000 SMART solar streetlights have been deployed across the USA, starting with a major installation in Tampa Bay, Florida. In partnership with Streetleaf, we’ve illuminated master-planned communities nationwide, ensuring continuous lighting during extreme weather events. During recent hurricanes in Florida, our lights kept neighbourhoods safe while the electrical grid failed.

A 2025 University of Pennsylvania study linked enhanced street lighting with a 15% decrease in street crimes and a 21% reduction in gun violence, demonstrating the impact of SMART lighting on community safety. Streetleaf is focused on providing cost-effective, grid-independent solutions for developers, helping to improve resilience and lower infrastructure costs.

Together, Leadsun and Streetleaf are lighting a smarter, more sustainable path forward.

We’re not just selling lights,” Streetleaf founder and CEO Liam Ryan says. “We’re helping developers lower infrastructure costs, speed up project timelines, and improve community resilience. That’s a package that resonates.”
